A few days ago a strong wind blew through town. You can feel wind, but you can’t see it. You can chase it, but you can’t catch it. Ecclesiastics 2:10 says, “I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure… Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” The Great King Solomon observed that there was pleasure for a moment, but then the moment was gone. Where did it go? It was like a vapor that blows away. He says it was “meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” Steve Jobs and Michael Jackson are icons of our era. No matter what you achieve in this life, it will all blow away like dry grass and be remembered no more. All that lasts is what you do with Jesus.
